12 Mar 2026
MSIA together with Invest Melaka Berhad paid a courtesy call to the Chief Minister of Melaka, Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, yesterday, marking an important step toward strengthening the state’s role in Malaysia’s rapidly growing semiconductor ecosystem.
During the discussion, MSIA shared an overview of Malaysia’s semiconductor industry and highlighted the importance of Melaka having a clear, focused strategy to capture opportunities in this critical sector.
MSIA highlighted the need of a Melaka Semiconductor Roadmap, shaped by strong industry input to ensure alignment with real market needs. The Melaka Centre of Excellence (CoE) was also highlighted as a key enabler, particularly in driving talent development, innovation, and deeper industry collaboration.
MSIA emphasised that the structure and priorities of the CoE should be guided by industry needs, ensuring it delivers meaningful impact to the semiconductor ecosystem.
The meeting also explored potential collaboration opportunities between MSIA and the Melaka State Government, with the shared goal of strengthening Melaka’s semiconductor capabilities and contributing to Malaysia’s position in the global semiconductor value chain.
We look forward to continued engagement and collaboration to build a stronger semiconductor ecosystem in Melaka and across Malaysia.
